Increased climate changes impacts producing vulnerability for communities in global scenario as well national and local level. Climate change impacts is inevitable has affected all the more marginalized group of people at first and direct level of livelihood. The vulnerability’s consequence has had raised many ups and downs in community’s habitat by creating risk.
Nepal is a largely mountainous, forest-rich, landlocked, least developed country (LDC) beset with political, economic and social changes and challenges, especially persistent poverty, glaring social and gender inequity, rapid climate change has put habitats in risk.
Nepal remains alarmingly vulnerable to climate change with limited coping capacities against climate-induced hazards. With the rapid increase in urbanization, industrial spur and broadening production and consumption base, the shift to a greener economy is not only an inevitable alternative for sustainable use of natural resources and consumption patterns but also achieve the twin goals of economic growth along with environment-friendly development practices.
ETSC Nepal’s aim is to bring initiative in the areas of Climate changes impacts on communities through the awareness and the implementation actions such as objectively.
- Increased understanding on building resilience by knowledge sharing on climate change and its consequences impacting their livelihoods.
- Enabled small and poor farmers with climate smart farming practices for major cereal and cash crops in response to the changing agricultural ecosystems.
- Increased knowledge and access to renewable energy and waste management practices/technologies to improve living conditions of communities.
- Enhanced capacities of communities on sustainable agricultural productions to address issues increased unpredictability due to climate change more focusing on poor and marginalized smallholders farmers .
- Created enough opportunities for scaling up the best practices, indigenous knowledge and testing innovative ideas for economic upliftment considering scalability and replicability scope.
- Communities and community-based institutions have an increased capacity to advocate for eco sensitive development policies and practices.
